Okay, so the bug hit me again.

After a few hundred headaches, I've managed to get the audio stream back online. The sound quality is a bit higher than it was in the past, but at the expense of stereo. So, you'll be hearing a clearer mono stream until I can figure out a way to keep the sound quality high without using up too much of my precious bandwidth.

My primary reason for the improved sound quality is because I'm streaming this audio through my higher-end devices in the house, and the lower bitrate sounds like shit. I simply couldn't take it.

The stream will be available on a VERY intermittent basis while I evaluate new software. I was using a WinAmp DSP plug-in in the past, but I really don't want to eat up WinAmp with the webcasting stuff anymore. It's resource intensive, and stops me from listening to other webcasts at the same time.

I'd really like to make this more permanent and attract a wider audience, but after looking at relay services, it's just not something that's financially viable without drawing advertising or donations -- and those endeavors are just something I'm really not interested in pursuing right now. If someone wants to pass me a $20 every month, I'll host it for up to 50 listeners. Otherwise, you get stuck with a few at a time (I think the max right now is set to 10).

One last little tidbit: my library is MUCH more expansive than it was just a year ago, so when I'm not manning the mike, you can expect a very eclectic mix of music. Enjoy!

The new server is finally stable, so I've re-connected the permanent audio stream. (If you've tried to listen over the past week, all you heard was silence.)

I've also decided that the format I have running is pretty solid. It's primarily Hard Rock, with a moderate mix of Metal and Classic Rock, and I've topped it off with a sprinkling of some Indie Rock and a few little gems you'll never hear ANYWHERE else. That's a guarantee.

I am also doing my best to keep the music as up-to-date as possible, which means I'm checking out the Internet Radio Independent Play Charts to see what everyone else is playing. Those tracks, if I have them, are also thrown into the playlists.

At this point, I would like some feedback. Is there any artist you think isn't getting any airtime? Am I over-playing something? WTF is Eminem doing on this station? I'll be adding a shoutbox to the page within the next day or two: be sure to use it!

The bad news: the old NetAsylum is gone. The server migration due to Micro$oft idiocy cost me dearly. That mistake won't be happening again any time soon.

While we all embrace the coming new genesis, I thought I'd share one of my little side projects: NetAsylum Radio.

This is something I've done just for fun so I can stream all my favorite music to various parts of the house/garage. At the moment, there is no real "format" of the station, per se, but as I take a little work break here or there, I try to spend a few minutes to tweak things a bit. Maybe some of you will enjoy the tunes -- most won't, and that's your loss.

Feel free to connect and listen whenever. If the load gets heavy and the signal turns to crap, let me know.
